“Why I Write”

My entire life can be described in one sentence, “well, that did not go as planned.” I tend to paint a picture in my head about how I want my life to play out yet more times than not it is the exact opposite. Although thats when I have to remember to keep faith; believe in what I cant see, take the first step, dive into the deep end and trust everything will be okay.

I may not always be able to control what may come, but I control how I handle it. That’s why I write every dream, struggle, and achievement down so I can look back and see how far I’ve come and when things don’t happen right away, which they rarely do, I have to keep faith and remember it does not mean that it won’t ever happen. My writing is proof that I will end up where I am supposed to be, with the person I am supposed to be with, and the life I am supposed to be living. Be patience, write it down, trust the process, and most importantly never give up. It is easy to have faith everything will work out, when everything is working out, and in those moments I look at all the pages I have wrote about life knocking me down, time and time again and remember I did not give up, I fought harder. No matter how tough life was, I was always tougher.

In life, people will often doubt your ability, try to tell you who you are, although you are the only one who can decide that. Writing is my way of telling my story, my version. It can be so hard in highschool to not let what people label you as define you. Although you get to start over everyday and be better than you were yesterday. Only I can decide who I will be and who I will become. I have been told more times than I can count that I am this and I am that but I know who I am and at the end of the day, the paper I write on can be more patient than the people. No one may ever read my writing and may always remember me as someone who was and thats okay because writing is my way of telling my truth and seeing how much I have overcome in the years and that is why I write. #WhyIWrite
